1999Sandia gem: [Red] Indeterminate. Medium sized fruit should have been large fruit. Could be due to length of dry weather in 1996. Very good flavour. Productive. Seeds were found in leather pouch on the Sandia Mountain in 1985. The pouch carbon dated from around early 1800's. 3 seeds out of 150 germinated.
70 - 75 days to maturity.
1999Sandia gem: [Red] Indeterminate. 1997 seed. Medium to large fruit has good flavour. We have cool nights; would mature earlier where nights are warmer. Named after Sandia Mountains ("Watermelon" in Spanish due to their colour at sunset), east of Albuquerque where seeds were found in leather pouch, carbon dated to early 1800's. 3 out of 150 germinated.
90 days to maturity.

Named after Sandia Mountains ("Watermelon" in Spanish due to their colour at sunset), east of Albuquerque where seeds were found in leather pouch, carbon dated to early 1800's. 3 out of 150 germinated as the story goes. Because of its lateness, I will probably stop growing this one.
95 days to maturity.
